Apples

Some old art work of scans I had on my hard drive.
I enjoy the rich colours and blends that are possible when working with oil pastels.

Michael Barron-Wike painting progress

Some more work at the underpainting stage, adjusting proportions and establishing values.

The next two stages I'm building up from the darkest colours, and scumbling in a few
mid tone colours, will spend most of my time working the mid colour range, the warm and
cool colour variations in the skin. Covering over a lot of details that showed in the
underpainting stage, but will get them back once getting into the highlights.

Mostly been using french ultramarine blue mixed with burnt umber to get my darkest darks.

Michael Barron-Wike underpainting

A block-in underpainting for my next commissioned portrait
of Michael Barron-Wike an Architect in California.

9 x 12 inches,  painted with burnt sienna on canvas.
Will make a few more fixes to proportions before starting on the colour.
